چکیده

There has been great interest in the design of DMT (discrete multitone) transceivers. An M -band DMT transceiver is called block based if the transmitter and the receiver consist of constant matrices. The commonly used DMT systems are mostly block based, e.g., the DFT based system used in transmission over digital subscriber lines. For an FIR channel of order L, it is known that redundancy of length L enables the receiver to cancel ISI completely. Such a scheme allow us to trade bandwidth for ISI cancellation. In block based DMT (BDMT) systems, the redundancy K is typically chosen to be the same as the order of the channelL. In this paper we will consider BDMT transceiver with redundancy K L. With the reduced redundancy better bandwidth efficiency can be obtained as will be demonstrated by examples. Furthermore minimum redundancy for BDMT systems will be derived and the transceivers will be parameterized whenever ISI solutions exist.

Clipping error resilience for peak power-constrained DMT transmission via implicit frequency domain redundancy

In this paper we present a new error correction approach for a simple peak-to-average power ratio (PAR) reduction scheme for discrete multi-tone (DMT) systems based on coefficient clipping. The proposed method utilizes existing or intentionally placed redundancy in the frequency domain in form of unused subcarriers. Compared to existing PAR reduction algorithms, all signal processing is perform...

Frequency domain equalization of DMT/OFDM systems with insufficient guard interval

In this paper, we propose a new, generalized approach for equalization of discrete multi-tone (DMT) systems, which not only uses redundancy in the time domain by adding a guard interval, but also takes advantage of existing or intentionally placed redundancy in the frequency domain. For this purpose, we replace the one tap frequency equalizer in the DMT receiver by a block equalizer and derive ...

Zero-Forcing Frequency-Domain Equalization for Generalized DMT Transceivers with Insufficient Guard Interval

We propose a zero-forcing frequency domain block equalizer for discrete multitone (DMT) systems with a guard interval of insufficient length. In addition to the insufficient guard interval in the time domain, the equalizer takes advantage of frequency domain redundancy in the form of subcarriers that do not transmit any data. After deriving sufficient conditions for zero-forcing equalization, t...

Multi-carrier Equalization by Restoration of RedundancY (MERRY) for Adaptive Channel Shortening in Multi-carrier Systems

This paper proposes a new blind adaptive channel shortening approach for multi-carrier systems. The performance of the discrete Fourier transform-DMT (DFT-DMT) system is investigated with the proposed DST-DMT system over the standard carrier serving area (CSA) loop1. Enhanced bit rates demonstrated and less complexity also involved by the simulation of the DST-DMT system.

Redundancy allocation problem for k-out-of-n systems with a choice of redundancy strategies

To increase the reliability of a specific system, using redundant components is a common method which is called redundancy allocation problem (RAP). Some of the RAP studies have focused on k-out-of-n systems. However, all of these studies assumed predetermined active or standby strategies for each subsystem. In this paper, for the first time, we propose a k-out-of-<em...
